Brieg Guerveno c'est une histoire d'amour entre un homme, la langue bretonne et son goût immodéré pour les musiques extrêmes et progressives. C'est l'histoire d'un homme qui chante en Breton comme d'autres chantent en Islandais, en Allemand ou en Norvégien. C'est une histoire en perpétuel mouvement comme le sont toutes les musiques progressives. Un mouvement en forme de quête d'un son bien à lui. Un son marqué par le rock prog des 70's, la chaleur des amplis vintages et les structures labyrinthiques comme autant de tiroirs gigognes qui s'ouvrent pour mieux nous perdre. Un son brut, taillé pour le live et l'efficacité sauvage du groupe qui l'accompagne sur scène. Un son brut comme le granit Breton et la rugosité cardiaque de cette langue celtique qu'il aime et défend le cœur battant

Brieg Guerveno is the project of one man, that of Brieg Guerveno, Breton author, composer and performer, with a passion for progressive music, the rock of the seventies, extreme music, and last but not least, his culture, his region and his second mother tongue: Breton.

Brieg writes, composes and sings his texts in Breton, and this he does from the heart. Dark and melancholy, like the Breton gwerz, those poems carried by the oral tradition. Such tunes and texts have, across the centuries, built, layer by layer, the vast repertoire of traditional Breton songs. Brieg sings in Breton because he loves that language, and its culture, just as others sing in Icelandic, Norwegian or German, and he also wants to sustain this culture he loves in a world heading at the speed of light towards dull uniformity.

This recording has emerged from months of intense work with my band and from a huge collective effort to achieve a vibrant crossover between my numerous influences, mixing black metal, 70 's music, pop music, stoner, progressive rock and cold wave… achieving as homogeneous a finished product as as these contradictions could possibly offer. It is the dark product of my culture and my slowly dying language, a record filled with rage and a raging will to be reborn. It is a tribute to my ancestors and my hope to make Breton, the half-alive language of the Celts, live once again and for all time... »
